The Forever Live-Service Pitch

DESTINY FOREVER

This is a Guardian's vision for Destiny's next era: a future where every expansion hits harder, progression actually respects your time, Exotics feel legendary again, and Crucible/PvE both get to shine without compromise.

Timeline Shift

The Axis Seed subversion

The Hook: The game does not start with a cutscene; it starts mid-combat inside an unmapped, deep-time Vex data vault known as The Chronos Conflux. Surrounded by pure blinding Vex geometry and flowing data streams, and with no extraction possible, you make a desperate final move: plunging your raw, Prismatic Light directly into a stolen Axis Seed to use it as a temporal bomb.

Instead of detonating, reality shatters. The hyper-futuristic arena dissolves into stark white lines, and you violently fall backward through the shimmering, fractured pathways of the Corridors of Time. You see flashes of Destiny history rushing in reverse—the Red War, the death of Oryx, the building of the City—until you violently impact the ground and black out.

You wake up in the rust and snow of the Cosmodrome highway. The visual contrast from the Conflux to the low-tech Dark Age is staggering. It is the exact opening shot of Destiny 1. But as you reach for the rusted Khvostov rifle, a shockwave ripples through the room, and the weapon violently reassembles into a heavy, timeline-shifted variant. History is trying to rhyme, but the board has been reset.

The Alternate Timeline Chronology

A high-level view of how the story develops over the three master phases.

1

Phase 1: Destiny Origins (The Dark Age & The Iron Lords)

Dropped into the post-Collapse era, you join Radegast to defeat early Warlords and plant the first City banner. You experience the Lunar disaster under Crota, suppress internal Concordat riots, hunt Dredgen Yor, and repel the Fallen houses at Twilight Gap.

2

Phase 2: Destiny Legacy (The Legend Realized)

You step onto the Tower plaza as a living legend. You campaign into Vex temporal zones to reclaim the Axis Seed, prevent frozen Hive gods from hatching on Mars, sabotage Ghaul's Almighty flagship, and battle a Witch Queen who duplicates your subclass builds before sealing the Witness inside the traveler portal.

3

Phase 3: Destiny Fate (The Cosmic Edge & Homeworld Invasion)

With the solar system secure, you venture beyond the map. You sabotage Xivu Arath's War Moon in the Kuiper Belt, coordinate with the Nine inside Kepler's gravity anomaly, navigate Europa's Glassway portal, and launch a full-scale fleet assault on the Vex homeworld to overload the primeval star core.

The Four Core Design Pillars

Establishing a permanent, balanced, and rewarding live-service future.

Pillar 1

🔋 The Prismatic Core

Subclass rigidity is completely dismantled. Stripped of standard elemental paths, players begin with a blank slate, earning Solar, Arc, Void, SIVA, Stasis, Strand, and Cosmic elements node-by-node by defeating bosses and tuning their core to the environment.

🔄 Mandated Content Cadence

To establish player trust, every expansion strictly delivers exactly: 4 Strike missions, 1 Pinnacle Dungeon, 1 Endgame Raid, 1 6-Player matchmade activity, and 1 major addition to the Prismatic Core subclass skill paths.

⚖️ Isolated PvP Balancing

Crucible matches are split. The Tactical Core removes double-jumps, abilities, and supers, offering pure weapon gunplay. The Mayhem Sandbox unleashes all Prismatic powers. Balancing is fully split, keeping PvE weapons strong without breaking PvP.

🏆 Prestigous Loot Economy

Exotic items are legendary again. Engrams are removed from vendors and passes, dropping only from endgame encounters. Major weapons (Gjallarhorn, Thorn) must be assembled via story milestones or physically ripped from roaming targets in the world.

Technical & Infrastructure Innovation

Solving engine bottlenecks and storage limits to build a seamless platform.

🚀 The Engine Leap

Unreal Engine 5 & Sony Integration

To support a seamless, forever-live-service platform, Destiny will officially retire the aging Tiger Engine and migrate to Unreal Engine 5.

  • The Gunplay Preservation: By utilizing Sony’s elite in-house ICE Team, Bungie will meticulously port the proprietary physics and signature "feel" of Destiny's gunplay into UE5, ensuring the game plays exactly as veterans expect while looking fully next-gen.
  • Next-Gen Fidelity: UE5’s Nanite geometry and Lumen global illumination will allow for unprecedented scale, rendering the Vex Dyson spheres and the cosmic depths of the Oort Cloud without the loading walls or memory limits of the past.

💾 Modular Storage

The "Chronal Director"

To prevent the game from becoming an unmanageable 300GB+ hard drive burden, the client utilizes a modular installation framework.

  • The Technical Solution: Players can install or uninstall the assets for Origins, Legacy, or Fate independently at any time via the main menu's sleek "Chronal Director," similar to modern modular hub clients (e.g., Call of Duty HQ).
  • The Infinite Archives: For immersion, players can also manage their installed timelines physically in the Tower by visiting a newly constructed wing overseen by Osiris and Elsie Bray. Stepping up to the Chronal Map allows players to view the storage footprint of each era and download or purge timeline data seamlessly without leaving the game client.
